I actually took these to a salvage yard and paid to break a few windows and cut a few seat belts, as I won't trust my life to any unproven anything.

They work, OK, but I have had to add my own strap, so it doesn't get lost in dark, murky water, if I lose my grip on one, should I ever find myself in such a place, and there is no way to 'anchor' them into place, so that they are still accessible, if any impact occurs, before the water comes into play. I added that, myself also. But, notwithstanding that, they are worth what you pay.

*Just a little side note. I see many reviews, where the buyer says they fit nicely into the center console or in the glove box. I was in an accident not all that long ago, and upon impact, (Not my fault.), the seatbelt locked and would not release, to allow me to lean forward or to the side to get anything, such as this tool from a glove box. I would have had to cut the seatbelt, first, to get to the glove box.(This was in a 2009 vehicle that had just over 5K miles on it.) Never underestimate the energy of even a 'small' impact, which can throw the stuff, from the center console all over the place. I drilled holes in mine and added straps to keep them securely in the hand(s) of whoever may be needing to use it/them. It does no good, if you drop it and can't locate it in the water, that may already be in the vehicle.

I also bought two leather plier cases, that would normally go on any belt, and securely mounted one to the steering column and one, on the passenger side, just under the arm rest. I slid each tool into these, and then used about a 3/8" wide piece of duct tape, (Just ONE wrap around the tool, itself.), to hold each tool in the tool case. (I tried the duct tape at different widths and then threw the case and the tool, into a wall, to see what would hold, in any collision, that I would still be conscious, after, but not too much, that with the shot of adrenaline, which I am certain anyone would have, when finding themselves in the water and sinking, would be able to easily tear and pull loose, from the plier case, slip the strap over their hand, around their wrist and then get down to business.

That may sound a bit too extreme to some and 'overkill', to others, but living in SE Idaho, with the Snake River running right through town and being not more than a hour and one half, away from mountains, lakes, etc. (Yellowstone & Grand Teton Parks.), in any of three directions, then having something to escape a submerged vehicle is imperative, and keeping it within reach, no matter what, is even more so.

So, unless you know your guardian angel, personally and by name, then always assume that you are the only one who can save your butt, in a bad situation, and prepare as such, and your odds of living to tell the tale, will have been greatly increased.
