Since I bought the truck used, I only had one keyless entry remote & thought it would be good to have another one as a back-up, emergency, etc.Everything I read prior to ordering indicated that this item was easy to program.
Well, I ordered it as it was a better price than charged by locksmiths and MUCH better than a dealership. I followed the instructions EXACTLY, but not only did the new keyless entry remote not program properly, the procedures actually deactivated the keyless entry remote that I already had been using successfully.
Luckily I found a good locksmith who programmed both keyless entry remotes (my original & this extra one) for only $10. Had I bought the remote from them, they would've charged $40 for remote & programming.
So, in the long run, with the low price of this item ordered via Amazon, I was still better off financially than if I had bought everything from the locksmith. However, I am always disappointed when something (i.e., programming) doesn't work as advertised, and I am inconvenienced as a result.
