Case Logic EKW-112 112 Capacity Koskin CD Case (Black) Review

The quality of Case Logic cases has decreased dramatically over the last 10 years or so. I have a case from 1999 that is still in incredible shape, AND all of discs are in great shape too.

I haven't had these cases for long (I bought two) but I can already tell the materials are from a different planet than my 1999 case, as well as the construction. Very flimsy and cheap nylon, cheap handle, cheap zipper, AND the main thing that used to set case logic apart from the imitators, case logic has started to do. If you look closely, the bottom sections of the case have a plastic edge that sits just behind the cds or dvds at the top of where you insert them that has gotten larger and larger over the years. It used to be just a very thin line, part of the process of making it that probably can't be helped, but at least it wasn't a nuisance. It now sits behind most of my dvds about a 1/4 inch.

Over time, this WILL scratch your discs, causing them to skip, and eventually they will not play at all. If you use your case for archiving and don't pull the discs in and out, and don't move the case around a lot, you should be fine. BUT, be aware that the plastic is there. About the only thing you really can do to eliminate this problem is take the time to cut off this plastic edge with an exacto knife and something hard underneath it. Unfortunately, if you have a case that holds two or three HUNDRED, this will take forever and you will get carpel tunnel. WHY can't case logic just make them like they used to?? Is that so much to ask, "stuff wranglers"!?
