If you look at it directly, it's plenty bright, but it's only as bright as 8W interior dome light.

My 2004 Subaru Forester's high-mount lights face rear, obviously. I thought uni-directional LED should be fine.
When I got these, I hooked up to the 12v, and these looked bright on my work bench.
However, when I installed them on high-mount brake sockets side by side with conventional bulbs, these were noticeably dimmer.
Subaru manual calls for 13W bulbs, sadly I'd say these are only half as bright.

For 2004-2005 Subaru Forester, there is about 2 inch space so I bought tall red LEDs that have 9 sides to each bulb.
Those other ones worked out to be as bright as conventional tungsten 13W bulbs.

If you want these as creepy red dome lights, they would do.
(maybe map-light for driver side, as red lights don't leave after-images in your eyes?)
But as high-mount brake lights, these are not so bright.
